π’Action Alert: Protect Vital Mental Health & Education Programs! π’
Your voice is urgently needed to protect essential mental health and community education programs right here in Alameda County!
New state funding changes (Prop 1) threaten to cut vital Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) services that Crisis Support Services (CSS) relies on. These are the programs that proactively build community resilience and provide compassionate support before crises escalate.
But there`s good news! We have a chance to advocate for these programs. On Tuesday, July 22nd, the Board of Supervisors will hold a hearing on Measure W funds, which are now available. CSS will be there, asking them to allocate these funds to offset the Prop 1 losses. This is about investing in community-centered solutions for health, connection, and safety for all.
Hereβs how YOU can make a difference:
Submit a Written Comment (Highly Recommended!): Share your detailed message by 3:00 PM on Monday, July 21st.
πhttps://bos.acgov.org/public-comments/
Make a Live Public Comment (Via Zoom or In-Person): Speak directly to the Supervisors on Tuesday, July 22nd, at 3:00 PM.

Details on how to join via Zoom will be released Monday with the agenda.
This is our chance to stand up for the compassionate, community-led mental health services that truly make a difference. Your collective efforts show the power of our community!
Thank you for your support!

July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month! We`re incredibly grateful for the powerful work fostering community care and safety in relationships across Alameda County. Join us in celebrating these vital organizations building true care infrastructure and movements for collective liberation:
β¨ Roots Community Health Center (@rootsempowers): Providing holistic, integrated health and wellness, honoring BIPOC experiences and fostering self-determination. They center community strengths, not deficits.
β¨ Pacific Center for Human Growth (@pacificcenterberkeley): Enhancing well-being for LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC communities through culturally responsive therapy, peer support, and outreach. They integrate social justice and trauma-informed frameworks for equitable care.
β¨ Restore Oakland (@restoreoakland): Believes collective liberation intertwines with personal healing. Their mission: to create safe, thriving communities and economies by bringing Oakland residents together to build wholeness, safety, and democratic wealth.
β¨ Back To The Land (@anthropocenealliance): An Oakland coalition of Black, Brown, and Indigenous nature enthusiasts helping BIPOC people engage in meaningful outdoor experiences. Through research and community work, BTL demonstrates natureβs power in enhancing mental health and fostering self-determination.
β¨ The Betty Ono Foundation (@bettiono): Builds power through culture, amplifying artists` voices and celebrating everyday culture. Their vision embodies the bold spirit of Betty Mabry Davis and Yoko Ono, valuing art as activism, self-determination, community transformation, and cultural resilience for Black, Brown, Immigrant, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ artists and communities.
These organizations aren`t just βproviding servicesβ. They are building care infrastructure and movements for collective liberation. Show them some love and learn more about their incredible work!
